Bike Around the Bay with Blake
I'm excited to share that I will be doing my first ever fundraising bike ride on October 24. It will be to help raise money for the Galveston Bay Foundation. Earlier this month I helped GBF restore coastal marshlands in a Boy Scouts conservation project by planting grass in their "Get Hip to Habitat" educational outreach program. In that activity I learned a lot about how GBF is making an impact in my own Houston backyard and I want to contribute further.
Also, Mom doesn't think I can make the 28-mile Bike Around the Bay trip, but I'm eager to show her otherwise - I ride 12 miles around the neighborhood on any given weekend anyway. This also gives me a taste of what a longer ride such as the MS-150 might feel like - and maybe could provide an excuse to ask for a new bike if I like it.
About the Galveston Bay Foundation
The Galveston Bay Foundation is a conservation nonprofit that has served as guardian of Galveston Bay since 1987. Its mission is to preserve and enhance Galveston Bay as a healthy and productive place for generations to come.
Your tax-deductible contribution to Bike Around the Bay will help to restore oyster reefs and wetlands, provide STEM environmental education to thousands of students, improve water quality, and protect vital habitat in and around Galveston Bay.
Thank you for investing in my ride and the future of Galveston Bay!
